11 Must-Haves for Vegan Cooking

Vegan cooking is healthy, creative and delicious! There are some things you always need to have in your kitchen to make sure you’re prepared for whatever event or party you may be hosting!

1.) Blender. Must have. A blender is a great tool when making sauces and sauces are really what make vegan cooking unique and yummy!

3.) Nuts. Nuts of some sort, usually almonds or cashews work great for making sauces, nut cheeses or milks. They also work great tossed on top of a salad.

4.) Bananas. Good source of potassium, bananas work great in desserts as an egg-substitute too. They help keep food together. They’re great for desserts because they add a bit of sweetness so you don’t have to add as much sugar, or any for that case!bananas

5.) Nutritional yeast. A great supplement for vitamin B12, but this yeast is much more. Add 2-3 tablespoons to just about anything for a great cheesy like flavor! Especially great mixed with sauces or sprinkled on vegan pizza 🙂

6.) A decent pan to saute’ vegetables. Woks work great, but a decent pan works too. Make sure it’s green so all the harmful chemical sprays haven’t been added to the non-stick surface.

8.) A grill. Having even a small electric counter top grill gives you so many more options to cooking. Grilled eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash and peppers make for great plates on their own or add the grilled vegetables to a hearty veggie burger!

10.) Good knives. It may seem like a given, but sharp knives are best for any vegetables. You will not be effective whatsoever trying to cut tomatoes with dull knives. Make sure you have some good vegetable cutting utensils. 🙂

11.) Creativity and a good attitude. The vegan kitchen is anything goes for vegetables and fruits. Don’t be afraid to mix and match! Some of the most unlikely combos result in the best dishes! And if at first you don’t succeed, try again. Have fun!
